Kefir and Cream Cheese DatesI occasionally enjoy eating medjool dates, which are a very sweet fruit, but they’re maybe a little too sweet.  It turns out that they taste very delicious when filled with the coolness and tanginess of cream cheese and kefir.  They are nice to snack on, and work great  as finger food at a wine and cheese party.

I cannot put the Kefir and Cream Cheese Dates into a clear food category, but if I had to choose I would say they’re closest to a dessert.  I also found that these are a great conversation starter because many people don’t eat dates very often. and will ask about them.

  • 8-10 Medjool dates
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Kefir
  • chopped almonds (walnuts also work)

Slice the dates in half and take out the pit.  Combine the cream cheese and Kefir in a bowl and beat with a fork.  Fill each half date with the cream cheese Kefir mixture, and top with chopped almonds.
