The Perfect Guacamole Recipe

Kefir has now made its place to the family guacamole recipe, which in my humble opinion is the perfect guacamole recipe.  Try it out yourself and let us know what you think.

As a southern California native, I am a really big Mexican food fan.  And no Mexican food is complete without the accompaniment of some excellent guacamole.  Now, I was originally hesitant to play around with my mother’s amazing guacamole recipe.  The recipe actually is amazing and I was afraid that kefir might ruin the perfection of the subtle relationships between the ingredients.  But upon sampling, my fears quickly erased by the joy of realizing that I had discovered the perfect guacamole recipe.  Guacamole with perfectly ripe avocados already makes for a very smooth consistency.  But adding just a tad of kefir, creates a wonderful creamy texture.  More than that, the addition of the kefir flavor mixes perfectly with the other ingredients.  So much so, that I wonder how I ever went without the kefir addition to begin with.


Serves 4 people


  • 2-3 ripe avocados
  • 4 green onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic (to taste)
  • 4 teaspoons of kefir
  • Handful of cilantro (to taste)
  • ½ cup of salsa (I use store bought, Pace works fine)
  • A pinch of salt (optional, don’t tell my mother I added this)
  • ½ lime (to taste)

Mash those avos, finely chop those onions herbs and add everything together.  Remember to remove the stocks of the cilantro, obvious I know, but the first time I didn’t know to do it and the bitterness snuck in.  Serve in tacos/burritos or eat it straight as a dip with your favorite tortilla chips.
